The Miami beach walk was a highlight of my trip to the city and well worth visiting if you’re in town. It combines palm-fringed promenades and rainbow-coloured beach huts with art deco buildings and a lively atmosphere. Whatever you’re into, you won’t be disappointed by this walk.

In this article – we outline the Miami beach walk trail from start to finish with all the must-see highlights along the way.

Walking is a fantastic way to see the gorgeous beaches of Miami along with the legendary Ocean Drive. It allows you to get up close to the coastline in a way that driving doesn’t, because the promenade skirts the edges of the beaches (which you can hardly see from the road). It also means you avoid getting stuck in Miami traffic which can be gridlock at times.

Why do the Miami Beach walk?

Here are five reasons we think this stunning beach walk is worth including in your Miami plans

  1. Palm-fringed promenade – enjoy your walk along the dedicated promenade which is set back from the road and shaded much of the way.
  2. Quirky landmarks – this walk includes stylish beach huts, interesting statues, and even a lighthouse!
  3. Enjoy the outdoors – with so many of Miami’s attractions being museums and galleries, it’s a perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy the Florida sunshine.
  4. Art deco buildings – you don’t need to be into architecture to appreciate the unique, pastel-coloured buildings that radiate 1930s glamour.
  5. Different vibe from the city – enjoy the open space and relative quiet compared to the busy and overlooked sightseeing in downtown or Brickell.

Sound like fun? Then let’s get walking…

Unlike the Miami river walking trail, which is short and sweet, the beach walk can take several hours. It’s the ideal spot to spend a morning, afternoon, or whole day.
