Last month I stayed at the Hampton Inn Miami Brickell while visiting the city. With a modern boutique vibe, convenient location, and outdoor pool, it has a lot going for it. But with so many amazing hotels in Brickell to choose from, how does this one compare?
In this article – I outline the pros, cons, and key info you need to know before deciding whether to stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Brickell.
- Summary
- Hotel pros

- Final verdict
Summary
A solid hotel option in central Brickell with large, clean rooms and convenient public transport links. But the Hampton Inn does come with some potential drawbacks and while they may not matter to everyone, they’re worth being aware of before booking.

Hampton Inn Miami – Pros
Having stayed at the Hampton Inn Miami Brickell for four nights, here are the advantages of the hotel…
- Large modern rooms – my bedroom was spacious, spotlessly clean, had a large tv, decent shower, and good quality Neutragena toiletries.
- Convenient location – just 2 mins walk from Brickell station where you can get the metro or free metro mover to Miami Downtown, Coconut Grove, and the airport.
- Breakfast included – buffet breakfast including eggs, sausages, fresh fruit, porridge, yoghurt, and a selection of cold drinks.
- Glitzy lobby – with double height ceiling and windows, glass chandeliers, lots of seating, and unique artworks.
- Secure set up – keycard-operated lifts and deadbolts in the bedrooms mean the hotel feels secure as people can’t wander in from the street.
- Free coffee – an endless supply of coffee available in the lobby is a nice little bonus.
- Hotel shop – selling snacks, microwave meals (which you can heat in your room), and other handy products like painkillers and toiletries.
- Outdoor pool – an ideal spot to cool off in the Miami heat but extremely small with hardly any sun loungers, and overlooked by tall buildings so it doesn’t get much sunshine anyway.

So, the Hampton Inn Brickell delivers on the fundamentals but there’s nothing particularly special about it (especially when you consider the $260+ price tag per night). So, what are the downsides?
Hampton Inn Miami Brickell – Cons
It’s a perfectly nice hotel in a convenient location but it does have several disadvantages that are worth being aware of before booking…
- Loud elevator – which sounds like a pneumatic drill throughout the night and woke me up several times (even though my bedroom wasn’t near the lifts).
- Poor gym – dated gym equipment, half of which was broken and unusable when I visited in April 2023 (but it did have one new Pelaton bike which was a nice touch).
- Soulless – for all its stylish decor, the hotel feels a bit soulless. This doesn’t matter if you just need somewhere to sleep but does mean that it isn’t a destination in itself (unlike other boutique hotels in Miami).
- Average breakfast – food on par with the cheaper Tru Hilton in Brickell yet you’re paying a lot more for it at the Hampton.
- Plastic plates & disposable cutlery – these seem unnecessary, wasteful, and jar with the high-end feeling that Hampton seems to be striving for. Although understandable for hygiene reasons back in 2020, most other hotels are now back to reusable stuff.
- Not dog-friendly – while our golden retriever didn’t tag along to Miami, we usually prefer hotels that allow dogs to stay (she loves a good holiday as much as we do).
Other than the loud lift which affected my sleep, none of these things are deal breakers in themselves. But when you take them together and consider the price of this hotel, I think you can get much better value by staying elsewhere (like the Tru Brickell, Citizen M, or Yotel).
Final Verdict
If you’re looking for a solid hotel in central Brickell, the Hampton delivers on the fundamentals. Its clean, spacious rooms and convenient location for the metro make it a reliable option when visiting Miami.
Standout features – large bedrooms, unique artwork, secure set up.
But if you’re after a real boutique experience or value things like a sunny pool and good gym, there are better hotels for the price point.
