Molo Beverello Pier is the Naples ferry terminal for Capri, Amalfi, and other destinations along the coast. The problem is, it can be tricky to find which sometimes makes catching the ferry a bit stressful.

In this article – we’ve put together a short guide to Naples ferry port so you can enjoy a smooth departure to the nearby Amalfi coastline and islands.

When we first caught a ferry to Capri, it was a right old faff to find the right terminal at the port. Because of the confusion in finding the place, we cut it a bit fine. Good thing we don’t mind running…

So, we put together this mini guide so you won’t experience the same stress and hassle.

Naples Ferry Port

The port at Naples is pretty big with several departure points for different destinations. If you’re getting a ferry from Naples to Capri, Ischia, Amalfi, Positano, or Ravello, then it’ll likely leave from Beverello. The problem is, this pier can be tricky to find.

Google Maps has the ferry terminal listed in a different location, so you’ll end up at the wrong place if you follow their directions. This is a bit stressful when you have a ticket to depart at a set time and the clock is ticking!

It doesn’t help that there are three port locations that look like they’re the right place…

  • One is where the airport bus drops you off, but this is where the long-distance ferries (e.g. for Stromboli, Sicily, and Corsica) leave from.
  • Another is the cruise ship terminal which is a grand building that feasibly looks like the right place.
  • But the correct ferry terminal for visiting the Amalfi coastline is actually next door to that and looks more like a market…

Molo Beverello Pier

Molo Beverello Pier, sometimes referred to as Naples Beverello port, is the departure point for Amalfi and Capri ferries. It’s located to the south of the cruise ship terminal and 8 mins walk from the airport bus stop. The entrance is opposite Nuovo Castle, by the junction with the traffic lights.

Snav, Caremar, and LNG boats all leave from here. There are ticket booths, cafes, and shops at the ferry port so you can stock up on snacks before departing. Most ferries also have a kiosk on board where you can buy hot drinks.

Is Beverello the main port in Naples?

Beverello is the main ferry port for the nearby islands and coastline – this is where you should get boats to Capri, Sorrento, Positano, and the Amalfi Coast. But if you’re catching a ferry further afield, to Stromboli, Palermo (Sicily), or Porto Vecchio (Corsica), then you’ll leave from Molo Immacolatella Vecchia not Beverello.

Getting There & Away

So, how do you get to the port? Well depending on where you’re coming from, there are a few different options…

Naples Airport to Molo Beverello

From Naples Airport you can catch the Alibus airport bus to the port. It takes just over 30 mins and will drop you directly at Molo Immacolatella Vecchia pier. From there it’s an 8min walk to Molo Beverello ferry terminal. From the bus stop drop-off point, continue walking along the main road towards the next set of traffic lights (opposite the castle). The ferry port for Capri and Amalfi will be on your left.

How to get from Naples Centrale to Beverello?

To get from Naples Centrale train station to Beverello you can take the metro, bus, or walk

The metro takes 15 mins, simply hop on line 1 at Piazza Garibaldi station (located at Centrale train station) and get off 3 stops later at Municipio station. From there it’s an 8min walk (past Nuovo Castle) to Beverello pier.

The bus takes 20 mins – you can catch the #151 directly outside Centrale station and it’ll drop you right next to Beverello. Or it’s a 35 min walk from the train station to the port if you fancy the exercise.

We hope you find these travel tips a useful guide to Naples Port. We know this isn’t a particularly exciting tale of adventure or inspirational destination. It’s a purely practical guide because we found the place a bit confusing initially. Hopefully we can help others to avoid this and ensure a smooth start to their ferry journey!
